Windows Temp folder
Many programs you use create temporary files inside Windows temporary folder. This target will remove all files, folders and subfolders in temporary folder. (...WindowsTemp)

User Temp folder
There are some programs that create temporary files inside user's temporary folder. This target will remove all files, folders and subfolders in the temporary folder. (...Documents and Settings"user name"Local SettingsTemp)

Recycle Bin
Select this target to empty recycle bin.

Prefetch Files
Windows XP prefetches partitions of the files you use. If you're using the same few applications frequently, prefetching can increase the apparent speed of system. However, Windows XP Prefetch directory can become greater after some time, and on the contrary slow down your system. This target will clean Windows prefetch directory.

Scandisk File Fragments
The Windows utility Scan Disk creates .CHK files at the root directory of drives. These files usually contain junk data and can be erased to help keep drives clean. This target will delete the .CHK files.

Documents History
Documents history represents the list of 15 most recently used files (text, movies, images, etc.). This list is available by selecting Start menu > Documents. Check this target to clean the list out.

Run History
Windows keeps a list of items activated (run) from the start menu. Check this target to clean the list out.

Search/Find files history
Windows stores the list of your most recent searches(Start > Search > For Files and Folders...). Check this target to clean the list out.

Search/Find computer history
Windows stores the list of your most recent searches (Start > Search > Find Computer). Check this target to clean the list out.

Open/Save History lists
When you use open/save dialog Windows stores used paths of files in a special list. Check this target to clean the 'Open/Save History' list out.

Start menu click history
Windows stores the list of most recently clicked items on Start menu. Check this target to clean the 'Start Menu Click History' list out.

Start menu order history
Windows stores the list of most recently ordered items on Start menu. Check this target to clean the 'Start Menu Order History' list out.

Windows page file
Windows page file (Swap) is used by windows to increase your available memory (Virtual Memory). If this file is not present Windows will recreate the file on user login. Windows always keeps locked this file. So this option requires system reboot.

Event logs
A computer running any version of Windows XP records events in three kinds of logs.

  • The application log contains events logged by applications or programs.
  • The security log records events such as valid and invalid logon attempts, as well as events related to resource use such as creating, opening, or deleting files or other objects.
  • The system log contains events logged by Windows XP system components.

Check this target to clean the Internet Explorer cache, and free more space in your hard drive and protect your privacy (as anyone who uses your computer has an opportunity to view where have you been browsing on the web).

History
History list keeps the tracks of your pages. Anyone who uses your computer has an opportunity to find a page you've seen in the last few days. Check this target to clean the Internet Explorer History.

Cookies
Some Web sites store information in a small text file on your computer. This file is called "cookie". Check this target to delete all the cookies on your computer and clean the Internet Explorer Cookies. However, it is not recommended in some cases as after deleting them you may no more be able to take advantage of some customization features (such as local news and weather or stock quotes).

Autocomplete
This feature saves your time when you are typing Web addresses or completing entries on Web pages by displaying a list of previous matching entries as you type. Check this target to remove all items from the list of suggestions.

Visited URLs
This target securely removes the hidden URL list on all the Web sites visited which is kept by Internet Explorer.

Address bar history
When you type URLs to visit, you will see a drop-down arrow on the right. It stores thr history of all the URLs you have typed in the Address bar. Check this target to empty the drop-down arrow.

Downloaded program files
In this directory Internet Explorer stores ActiveX and Java applets that have been downloaded from web. Choosing this target will instruct History Killer to clean out this directory.

index.dat files
Index.dat stores information about the web sites you have visited and the cookies that have been saved. The index.dat files are always locked by the system when Windows is running and can not be deleted. So this target requires system reboot.

  • killing a single file (just select one);
  • killing a folder content (enter the desired folder path and all files will be deleted in it);
  • killing files by specifying file mask (using wildcards);
  • killing all files in folder depended on registry value (you should select a sub-key path and value name);
  • killing single value from registry;
  • killing whole registry key.

Auto-Kill when Windows starts
Automatically do Kill action at Windows startup.

Auto-Kill on last browser exit
Automatically do Kill action when you close last browser window (Internet Explorer, Firefox Mozilla, Netscape, Opera or Flock).

Auto-Kill every...
Automatically do Kill action when given time elapses at last Kill action time.

Auto-Kill on application exit
Automatically do Kill action after selected application exit. Click Browse button and select application executable file.

Auto-Kill action notifications

Show Progress of Auto-Kill action
When this option is checked and application works in ICONIC mode, History Killer shows Auto-Kill progress information as tooltip in SysTray.

Show Auto-Kill summary information
When this option is checked and application works in ICONIC mode, History Killer shows summary information of Auto-Kill action as tooltip in SysTray.

Automatically start when Windows starts
Automatically starts History Killer at Windows startup.

Show "I'm here" notification when starts
Shows "I'm here" notification as tooltip in SysTray when History Killer starts

Action Speed in Iconic mode

Scan action speed
Sets Scan action speed in ICONIC mode. Select "Slow" if you want to see action progress, otherwise you can select "Fast".

Kill action speed
Sets Kill action speed in ICONIC mode. Select "Slow" if you want to see action progress, otherwise you can select "Fast".

Security Level

Enable file delete security
Enables file delete security, which gives you confidence that once deleted with History Killer, your file data is gone forever and cannot be recovered.

Security Level
Sets the level of file deletion security. Even in the lowest security level, History Killer securely destroys data and practically there is no chance of recovery. No unerase program can recover file deleted by History Killer.


Update Options

Automatically update History Killer
Enables History Killer automatic update. When this option is checked, History Killer automatically downloads or updates existing Plug-ins from Internet for free.

Show automatically update result in ICONIC mode
Shows History Killer's automatic update information as tooltip in SysTray.

Update NOW!
Click this button if you want to update your History Killer Plug-ins. Update will take effect after restarting History Killer.

Show ToolTips

Shows description as tooltip when mouse pointer pauses over a dialog item.

How to Register History Killer

You need to register your History Killer copy in order to get access to Kill and Auto-Kill actions. Otherwise you will only be able to scan targets but not to kill.

You need a registration key corresponding to your Application ID.
